? A total of 176 titles from the official selection composed of 65 Korean films and 111 international films will play during the extended screenings!

The 21st JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF, Festival Director LEE Joondong) revealed the list of films to be screened during the extended screenings held from June 9 to September 20.

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while screening the official selection in the safest way possible, this year’s JEONJU IFF will hold separate jury screenings, online screenings, and extended screenings. During the extended screenings, JEONJU IFF’s JEONJU Cine Complex and a selected number or theaters on Jeonju Film Street will play a selection of the official programming from the 21st JEONJU IFF in sequence.

The extended screenings will play 65 Korean films and 111 international films for a total of 176 titles from the 21st JEONJU IFF’s official programming. In terms of domestic titles, all 11 titles in Korean Competition will participate in the extended screenings (except for Take Me Home which will only screen during the FALLing in JEONJU period). In addition, 24 titles from Korean Competition for Shorts, 23 from Korean Cinema, 6 from KBS Collection: Audience Engagement, and 1 JEONJU Cinema Project title from 2020 will join the extended screenings.

Among the international titles, 7 will be from International Competition, 9 from Masters, 36 from World Cinema, 4 from Midnight Cinema, 6 from Cinema Fest, 21 from Expanded Cinema, 1 JEONJU Cinema Project from 2019, 2 JEONJU Cinema Project from 2018, and 25 titles from Quay Brothers: Masters of Puppet Animation will meet the audience through the extended screenings.

FALLing in JEONJU, which rescreens award winners and hot titles from that year’s festival again in the fall, will be held within the extended screening period from September 17 to September 20. At this year’s FALLing in JEONJU, the festival plans to screen more titles for the festival’s finale, while preparing diverse festive events for domestic guests, international guests, and audiences to enjoy.

Festival Director LEE Joondong said, “Our priority is the safety of the audience and film industry professionals, but in order to allow them to watch films properly, we’ll be holding extended screenings of the official programming in sequence.” He added, “If COVID-19 situation stabilizes, we’ll not only be screening films, but putting up diverse programs and events by inviting Korean directors and actors to Jeonju.”
