The 22nd JEONJU IFF Launches Film Goes On Campaign!

? Film Goes On campaign unveils one by one: clips of the 22nd lineup and video series of 9 movie people.

? With film magazine Cine21 and CJ CGV, JEONJU IFF starts to support films and filmmakers during the pandemic.

The 22nd JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF, Festival Director LEE Joondong) starts a campaign with this year’s slogan, “Film Goes On.” This campaign was launched to support films and filmmakers that perform their roles in the midst of the global pandemic. Based on JEONJU IFF’s initial design, weekly film magazine Cine21 and CJ CGV, the largest multiplex cinema chain in Korea, are on board for the project.

The campaign of “Film Goes On” consists of ten video clips of the “going on” series. Firstly, clips of this year’s lineup are categorized by five subjects: walking, laughing, crying, sleeping, and eating. These five campaign videos deliver a message that watching films in our daily lives and movie scenes capturing our daily routines are going on.

Secondly, “going on” series, another five video clips that JEONJU IFF collaborate with Cine21 and CJ CGV, will show nine leading filmmakers and actors: Kim Bora, Lee Joonik, Lim Soonrye, and Jo Sung-hee (directors), Koo Kyohwan, Kim Sung-ryoung, Yu Junsang, E Som, and Lee Juyeong (actresses and actors, in Korean alphabetical order). These video clips will be released on official YouTube channels and social media of JEONJU IFF, Cine21, and CJ CGV. The series will be screened in CJ CGV theaters. Also, the nine artists’ interviews and photos will appear in the special enlarged edition of Cine21 (no.1,300) which will be issued on April 3, 2021.

Meanwhile, the “Film Goes On” (working title) campaign for audiences will start the participation event. The concept is that the virtual theater space is filled with characterful audiences. For this, JEONJU IFF is collaborating with Stuckyi Studio, website production company which drew attention to last year’s online queer parade, “We Create Non-Existing Roads.” for the media start-up DotFace. There are plenty of prizes, including JEONJU IFF movie tickets and online tickets, CJ CGV movie tickets, and special merchandise.

Last but not least, JEONJU IFF will publish a book, What Will Be Of Cinema? (Spanish title: ¿QUE SERA DEL CINE?) for the Film Goes On campaign. About asking the meaning of cinema in this COVID-19 pandemic, this book is part of last year’s publication project of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival (Argentina), which compiled various forms of appreciation, including essays, poems, pictures, and drawings from 83 movie people in Argentina and the world. This year, JEONJU IFF is publishing the Korean version. 29 Korean editors participated in this publication project: Kim Bora, Kim Gina, Kim Chohui, Min Kyudong, Jang Kunjae, and Jang Woojin (directors), Kim Youngjin, Kim Haery, Darcy Paquet, Lee Sang-yong, and Jang Byungwon (film critics), Jamie Shim and Kim Soonmo (producers), and many more, Also, 33 foreign contributors, including Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Quay Brothers, and Quintin showed their opinions about the future of cinema which continues during the pandemic. What Will Be Of Cinema? is scheduled to be published before the festival opens.

The 22nd JEONJU IFF will be held on Jeonju Film Street and streamed on the official YouTube channel
