DIRECTOR
Gyorgy PALFI
The Hungarian director Gyorgy Palfi was internationally noted for his debut film Hukkle (2002). Created in a silent film style, Hukkle refrains from using any dialogue and conveys imagery through the rhythm of the screen. Taxidermia (2006), a film about a bizarre family, was invited to the Un Certain Regard at the Cannes. His Final Cut: Ladies And Gentlemen (2012) stimulated the cinephilic sensibility in an extracted film or essay film form. Palfi engaged with Jeonju IFF as he directed Free Fall (2014) for the Jeonju Cinema Project. This film oscillates between SF, horror, melodrama and sitcom, raising questions about the concept of normality as it portrays the mysterious situations a woman experiences as she jumps from the roof of a building. His recent film His Master´s Voice (2018) is an SF film tracing the secret of the protagonist’s missing father.
