Overview

An unemployed job seeker gets stuck in the bathroom. But he feels more comfortable in the bathroom.

Review

A computer game is on the screen. In the corner of the screen is a cover letter for a job application. In the next scene, a guy plays a mobile game in a toilet. When he is about to go out, the door doesn’t open. He doesn’t seem bothered. Time passes, and his phone battery is low at 15 percent. He searches videos on how to escape from a locked toilet but can’t find a solution. A video suggests calling your family or friend who will come to get you when you are out of contact for more than two days. He wants to give it a try but realizes that his best friend got a job recently. Besides, he dares not to call his mom. He is cornered as the night comes and the phone dies. He is hallucinated by the images of his friends. He isn’t sure whether he can escape. Does he really want to get out? Toilet is a funny and exceptionally bold film. It features provocative shot design, experimental editing, limited use of space, and no dialogue. The director plays four roles of director, cinematographer, actor, and editor. His ambitious attempt results in this interesting work. (KIM Mijo)
