What if the last five people on earth in 2085 found joy and delight? Last Words is a story of astonishing human tenderness and creativity in the face of ecological catastrophe.
This film brings to the screen the imagination of a post-apocalyptic world in which only a few humans have survived, based on the book of the same title written by novelist and screenplay writer Santiago Amigorena. It tells the story of a survivor who finds an old film in an apartment in Paris and travels to Bologna Cineteca to find more films and begin a new life. The film was produced with a small budget and an alternative approach, in which all of the staff and crew involved received the same salary during the four months of shooting the film and held a discussion with local activists and farmers in lieu of a press conference. Through this film, Jonathan Nossiter, director and advocate for alternative lifestyles, says that this film is a cultural tool that can change lives. (Sung MOON)
