On a humid summer day, a preview of the director´s new film is held at a small theater in crisis due to COVID-19. As the boss refuses to operate the air conditioner, the tired part-timer´s patience begins to run out because of complaints from the heat-weary audience.
Director Ko Bongsoo, a regular guest at JEONJU IFF, introduces his new film, The rain comes soon, set on a hot summer day. That day is a lucky day for someone, and unlucky for someone. Of course, everyone is looking forward to a lucky day. Part-timer Charles, who is preparing for a movie premiere early in the morning, wants to receive more wages from the theater president; Joohwan, who is the main actor in the movie, but who works as a delivery service, wants many audiences to attend the premiere; an extra actor, Seunghwan wants to have a good relationship with the woman he just met on a blind date. However, as everyone can guess, few people get the lucky breaks in this hot theater. The rain comes soon depicts the simple scenery of life in a unique comical sentiment. Lee Heejun starred in the role of a movie director, and film critic Jeon Chan-il also showed interesting acting. (MOON Seok)
