Two years after her boyfriend Jonghoon passed away, Soohyun seems that she hasn’t forgotten him yet. One day, she hears the news from Jonghoon´s younger brother Jihoon that their family is going to hold Jonghoon´s soul wedding ceremony.
Two conflicting emotions and worlds remain under the surface of static scenes and restrained emotions. After the sudden death of a painter Jong-hoon, conflicts arise between his mother, who lost the eldest grandson of the head family and her eldest son, and his longtime lover, Suhyun, who has lived with him without marriage. The mother concerns about her unmarried son’s journey to the underworld. Meanwhile, though she is almost like a sister-in-law to the man’s brother Jihoon, Suhyun falls into despair before the reality that she can’t even retrieve her man’s lost wallet due to her legal status. Jihoon is well aware of both sides but serves only as a bridge between the two. Their time of mourning leads us to ponder the other side of the reality they are situated. The director reveals the weight of marriage and family in this quietly sinking drama, which feels too heavy and intense to bear. (YOO Sunhee)
