Shinyoung is preparing for a 9th-level civil servant position at the goshiwon. One day, when Shinyoung opens her eyes, her body is a cube. Shinyoung is transferred to the research institute and used as research data. But the lab can´t figure out anything.
Korea is a unique country in the sense that the concept of dwelling can bring about many discourses. When a familiar subject meets elements such as bodily deformation or damage, it creates a bold, visual thrill. The director offers a fresh and striking film by pulling the correlation of dwelling, body, and mind from a microscopic to a macroscopic level. Shinyoung’s residential space may be a terrible one which makes her body bound and subordinate. When the nightmarish space reveals its nature in a cinematic way, you will experience an extreme sense of tension. (LEE Hyung-suk)
