Overview

Aoki is a failing novelist, and Sol is a failing pop singer. Encountering each other in South Korea, speaking different languages, they and their families somehow end up in a truck heading off into the Korean countryside.

Review

A failed novelist Tsuyoshi takes his son to Seoul with an invite from his cousin to work on a cosmetic business together with his Korean partner. However, his partner steals everything and disappears and three of them are left out empty-handed. They head to Gangreung looking for a new business item. Sol once ran into Tsuyoshi before, is a singer whose music is not selling well. Her parents are long dead and she has to support her older brother and a younger sister. Sol and her siblings are also on the way to their parents’ grave in Gangreung. The two families happen to meet on the same train and decided to company together. Even with the different languages and cultures, the families interestingly get along and heal each other’s wounds. It is director Ishii Yuya’s new film, shoot 100% in Korea with Korean staff, starring Ikematsu Sosuke, Odagiri Joe, Moon Choi, and Kim Minjae. (CHUN Jinsu)

Born in 1983 in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. He completed his studies at Osaka University of the Arts with his graduation film, Bare-Assed Japan. Since then, Yuya has been working as a screenwriter and director.
