Get The Hell Out

WANG I-Fan
Taiwan 2020 96min DCP color Fiction 15 Korean Premiere
Overview

Wang Yo-Wei works as a civilian serviceman at the Taiwan legislature. One day, something happens to legislative member Xiong Ying-Ying and Wang replaces her job. However, a fatal virus spreads inside the legislature, which makes the members infected and become zombies. Strangely, Wang is immunized to that virus so he tries to save everyone.

Review

The Taiwanese legislature is known to create a bigger mess than the Korean National Assembly. The chaotic situation depicted in Get the Hell Out does not seem too exaggerated. The legislature has already shown time-to-time scenes of comedy or action genre through the media. Infected politicians become zombies and dash are not too strange in real life. In this ‘fantastic comedy zombie film’ with cartoonish descriptions, exaggerated, and caricatured characters, Wang Yo-Wei is the only serious person who becomes a new member of the Legislative unexpectedly. Wang is a loser, but he is immune to the zombie virus and able to kill zombies. Get the Hell Out is the outcome of the extreme cynicism of the present Government, yet hopes rise through Wang’s being.
