The shared coming-of-age story of a father and his autistic son who embark together on a journey of escape. This journey ultimately leads to a parting and a new beginning.
Aharon came back to Israel leaving behind the high life as a popular designer in the U.S., now lives a quiet life with his son Uri, who has a developmental disability is in his early 20s. Aharon devotes his life to Uri, giving up all his career, but his ex-wife believes he needs to let Uri live his own life independently since he’s also an adult over 20 years old. She tries to separate Uri from his father and send him to a facility. Uri does not want to be separated from his father, and Aharon takes it so heartbreaking. But they have to accept this change and take a farewell trip. Will Aharon be able to say goodbye to Uri?
A sacrificing father who believes that only he can fully understand his son and a son who is just a bright child-like adult. And a mother who believes the son should be left to the social system for his independence. The family’s story offers a lot to think about for us since this is in fact something that we can’t tell who’s right and wrong. At the same time a very universal story for all of us making us look back on ourselves. (CHUN Jinsu)
