When 10-year-old boy ends up teaching a neighbor girl a cruel lesson, he is shunned by the small-town community and forms an alliance with a transgender man to learn what it truly means to be different.
A small town in Latvia. Markuss is living with his grandma. He inherits great artistic talent from his late father, but nobody around him encourages him to develop his skills, rather laughs at him and forces him to live an average life. Marcuss one day escapes into the woods while being bullied by his neighborhood friends, and meets a mysterious person named Sailor, learns he was the teacher who taught stained glass to his father. Learning from Sailor just as his father did, Marcuss shines off his great talents even feeling free, but Sailor has a heartbreaking memory in him that he didn’t share. Based on Jana Egle’s original work in Latvia, it’s a debut film of director Dace Pūce who was a singer and dancer. It shows delicate and dreamy images throughout the film and the incredible performance of the actor Damirs Onackis who played the young Marcuss adds to the emotions of the film. (CHUN Jinsu)
