Overview

An 18-year-old boy named Haewon hates his father for being unfaithful to his mother. In the same apartment block, Ha-young becomes an orphan after her father passed away. One night, they decide to take revenge on the irresponsible adults.

Review

Two students can’t fall asleep at night for different reasons. It is difficult to guard our hearts against falling for a coming-of-age story where lonely people meet, share their sufferings, and grow. Although the film deals with students who are hurt by their families, the director offers an outstandingly placid view without making it too heavy. At nights when this film mostly takes place, it’s distressing to see their blank looks while saying that a burger franchise is cozier than home and that they do not sleep much anyways—they have become nocturnal against their wishes. When they finally look at each other in the middle of the night, when the seemingly endless night finally brightens up, we feel a ray of relief for unknown reasons. [LIM Jisun]
