In 1817 in which the film is set, amidst global industrialization, the employees of a Swiss watch factory are meticulous and dedicated workers, but even among them, different ideas about working conditions arise one by one. On his visit to the area around the factory to make a map, Pyotr meets Josephine and becomes involved with a group of anarchists who seek to spread their ideas in various ways. In his second film, Unrest, Cyril Schäublin creates a delicate, well-informed miniature world of social change and interpersonal relationships. It’s a political film that shows an idyllic past and calmly depicts the small yet big movements of those who are trying to change the world from their own places and those who suffer as a result of the social system run by people in power who refuse to change.
