The gangster sisters Chitara and Léa dominate the night in Brasilia’s largest slum. They manage the community by illegally distributing gasoline to local bikers. While holding a microphone for the election campaign to protect the rights and interests of those released from prison during the day, they mine black oil at night with the sound of spreading on dry ground. They dream of taking care of the women around them with energy more intense than sparks. Director Adirley Queirós, who had critically portrayed Brazil’s modern history in the science-fiction genre film Once There was Brasilia (2017), took on the first co-direction with cinematographer Joana Pimenta. Created as if shooting a documentary with non-professional actors who embody the local history, this fiction metaphorically expresses the current situation in Brazil since Bolsonaro’s government by presenting a huge slum.
