Corsini sings Blomberg & Maciel
A group of people is gathered to record again an album they know perfectly. One can guess a hero will be revered, Ignacio Corsini, the biggest Argentine singer. But also, like fog, all those bloody years in old Buenos Aires insist on appearing. There is Rosas, the tyrant, amid that haze, inaccessible and fantastic.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, three friends from Argentina get together to make a musical documentary: Mariano Llinás, who directed La Flor (2018), cinematographer Agustín Mendilaharzu, and musician Pablo Dacal. The character they want to portray is Ignacio Corsini, a forgotten musician who was even more capable than the legendary tango singer Carlos Gardel. They are guided by the record (Long Play) that also gives the film title, some old books and several maps of the city of Buenos Aires. While Pablo covers a Corsini song with a band in his own style, the other two friends go on an adventure to places that were the sites of Argentina's politics and history based on the song lyrics. As the audience follows their story, this documentary transforms into a fun adventure of three friends. [Sung MOON]
