An idea of the great filmmaker Sergei M. Eisenstein provoked the making of this short film in three parts. The first part is a montage of the gestures of Daumier's character, as Eisenstein envisaged.
Based on an idea by Sergei Eisenstein, director Radu Jude made a film about the correlation between images and text, showing how they can influence the perception of the other. It wittily shows variations made from images when the images are alone, when they are presented with text, and when they are presented with a story in a completely different context. The unexpected appearance of American actor Gwyneth Paltrow is brief but adds to the power of satirical comedy. [Sung MOON]
