A man tries to send casual messages to a woman. An AI helps him edit his text messages. The green light flashes and the wonderful magic of the AI’s communication unfolds. The film starts as a light comedy about social media as it ping-pongs back and forth between embarrassing moments and reassuring ones. But it finishes with a stirring ending. It entices us with the stability provided by the technical answers in communication but eventually leads us to reflect on ourselves by projecting its “real intentions.” We see ourselves in the emptiness and loneliness that rushes over the AI after all communication is over. Gratefully, the film does not turn away from that loneliness and instead ends with a note of consolation. [LEE Jae-eun]
