Review

In the past, there were quite a few directors who were actors, but recently, the number of actors who have taken up the challenge of directing has certainly increased. Philip Barantini started acting in the soccer drama Dream Team and appeared in series Band of Brothers and Chernobyl, which were also popular in Korea, and he made his feature film debut with Villain (2020) after making the shorts Seconds Out (2019) and Boiling Point (2019). Based on his short film of the same title, the feature film Boiling Point is already his fourth film. It is a unique film filmed in one take of the busy kitchen and the stories unfolding around it, set in a London restaurant on a Friday evening before Christmas, the busiest of the year. The director meticulously planned the camera movement in order to shoot in one take, as the filming site was not a wide space. Stephen Graham, who worked with director Barantini in Band of Brothers, takes on the role of the owner-chef and delivers an outstanding performance in this film, where the story is so immersive that the audience forgets it's a one-take.
