Overview

Summer in Southern Spain. Sara is stuck in her aseptic family's butcher shop and dreams of being someone else. Being constantly bullied by a bunch of girls doesn't help. One day, at the river, she witnesses a mysterious stranger kidnaps her tormentors. Will she speak up?

Review

Sara, the daughter of a butcher's house, is teased by the girls in her neighborhood because of her bloated body. One day, while Sara is swimming alone in the pool, the girls hide Sara's clothes, and she is humiliated as she returns home wearing only her swimsuit. On her way home, she sees a man brutally kidnapping one of the girls who had bullied her, but she is unable to report it to the police. PIGGY is a kind of revenge drama and a variation on the story of girls who dream of a knight in shining armor. Sarah learns that the man is a serial kidnapper who has shocked her neighbors but refuses to reveal it for revenge on the girls and her bond with the man. In this feature-length film based on her short film of the same name, which was screened at the JEONJU IFF in 2019, Spanish director Carlota Pereda gives a bizarre pleasure through the protagonist with an unconventional appearance.
