Review

A father and a daughter live alone together. One day, he disappears after he claims that he saw a serial killer and will catch him for a reward. The daughter starts to search for him. After his former work Siblings of the Cape (2018), Katayama’s ambition for genre films is clearly evident. The story structure of interweaving the three viewpoints of the father, the daughter and murder is fresh and the film gets darker as the story develops, act by act. The story starts with a simple event but deepens as it deals with problems about family and even ethics. Its deep contemplation of family and truth beyond aesthetic structure and genre directing merits this film as one of the greatest films in the thriller genre. [YEON Sang-ho]
