One character follows two anarchists wandering through abandoned shopping malls and apartments. They are interested in invading empty spaces without leaving a trace other than their secret signal. These three strangers get closer after subtle acts of trespassing and civil disobedience. The city, which goes through an economic crisis after the pandemic, falls into eternal stagnation and becomes a mysterious relic of melancholy and nostalgia. Argentine artist Alan Martín Segal’s feature debut, Via Negativa, tells the story of young people’s hopes for a new homeland and fantasies about an uncertain future, set in a city that seems to be going through all the pains of this era. The narrative of the film is uniquely developed in a new dimension of visual language, a narrative led by sound while maintaining the unique style of the image in movement shown in his previous work.
