That's what friends are for

Korea 2021 14min DCP Color shorts Fiction G
Overview

Although international marriage migrant Asian women have lived for from three to 20 years in Korea, their lives are sometimes viewed with racist eyes. And sometimes, it is not easy to live in the same discrimination as Korean women's lives. As they travel to the sea with a birthday friend, they think about happiness by recalling the day, week, and ten years ago.

Review

A bus with migrated women runs toward the sea. They ride the bus to escape the daily discrimination that they face, nag from their husband to earn money for the household, pressure to make tens of family rituals alone, and so on. This is the result of the multicultural family women project led by Yeo Kyundong who moved to Sunchang in collaboration with “Let’s Make Our Movies Social Cooperation” and Sunchang Multicultural Family Support Center. The migrant women are directly involved in acting which is unskilled but their sincerity is really touching. [MOON Seok]
