One day, an unknown existence appears and announces that everyone will die. To survive judgment day, those who have witnessed the death of their immediate family members must share their lives with those around them.
Although EX MACHINA sets in an unrealistic world, it depicts familiar landscapes. Doomsday is near, when everyone will be killed by unknown creatures. The only way to avoid this is for voters, who eyewitnessed their immediate family member's death, to share their remaining days with someone else. The director skillfully brings complicated feelings such as chaos, selfishness, guilt, and helplessness that arise as facing uncanny disaster through ordinary characters and scenes. The leading actor Jin Sung-chan, who played Chungheon, modulates the film's weight by meticulously portraying a character facing a disaster. (JEONG Ji-hye)
