Radio telescope
"From the future that has yet to come, the first sound comes to find us." The movie changes the voice and the radio waves and adjusts the frequency that does not fit. We start to see what could not be seen and hear what could not be heard.
Hayabusa, which means peregrine falcon in Japanese, is a nickname for the E5 series Shinkansen, the official song title of the Vocaloid Hatsune Miku, and the name of the fighter jet that kamikaze pilots flew. This film explores entities that share the same noun to reveal the contradictions inherent to Japanese history and culture. Japan has been turning its history of imperialism into newly discovered mythology through animated works. And thus, the virtual becomes a reality, and reality once again becomes virtual. The ever-so-proliferating image that does not guarantee truth resonates in the same thread of existence with bodiless voices that are produced by Vocaloids that are said to democratize creativity. Radio telescope tracks how the imagination that can infinitely change and proliferate gets consumed while also the antenna detects changing conditions of media. (KIM Yesolbi)
