Seventeen-year-old Mi-jin dreams of a life different from her selfish, immature mother who had caused her childhood trauma. Her mother returns home after seven months, pregnant with no plan whatsoever. Mi-jin's pathetic friend Tae-gu who had dropped out of school and works as a karaoke part-timer keeps bothering her. To refresh her mind, she plans to go on a trip with her other friend Sujeong with the money earned from a part-time job, but they get scammed.
Words and actions can deeply affect us and cause lasting trauma. Our individual experiences, both good and bad, especially painful moments, become a part of our personal history. When we remember and try not to forget these events, they become a part of our memories and shared recollections. As the film concludes, the audience can emphasize Mi-jin's struggles. All she wanted was to improve her situation. No, she wanted to become a better person. As we all have a personal history, it is natural to aspire to become a better person, just like Mi-jin did in the film. (KIM Jonghee)
