Review

The New Employee: The Movie, a new film directed by KIM JHO Gwang-soo, is the theatrical version of the 7-episode drama The New Employee, which recently gathered attention and was introduced on Watcha. Set in an advertising company, this film is about the romance between an intern Seung-hyun and a manager Jong-chan. It is a male queer melodrama to expect from director KIM JHO Gwang-soo. The movie depicts what happens when Seung-hyun, who starts working without knowing much about the ways of the world, loves Jong-chan from a distance, a perfectionist manager, yet looks cold-hearted. In the end, it is revealed that Jong-chan is also interested in Seung-hyun, and the two fall in love, but in the process, they experience all kinds of conflicts, not much different from other ordinary romance films. However, as a suitable movie based on Moscareto's web novel and this kind of webtoon, scenes can cause BL fans to scream one after another. The director's unique and optimistic view is added to create a difference. In addition, Jong-chan's advice to Seung-hyun in the film includes advice that the newly hired should keep in mind, so even audiences not interested queer genres may also pay attention. (MOON Seok)
