Overview

In recent days, Rome has been the scene of an unusual event: when it rains, the manholes exhale dense steam of unknown origin and composition. No one knows that those who breathe in the mysterious substance will have to deal with what they repress, their darkest instincts, their anger. Not even the Morel family.

Review

Flowing directed by Italian director Paolo STRIPPOLI, can be categorized as an emotional horror film like Hereditary (2017) and Midsommar (2019) by Ari Aster or A Quiet Place (2018) by John Krasinski. The horror revealed in this film has a solid social character and is ultimately a way of displaying a family story. The Morels live in Rome and are emotionally tense after the mother dies. This is because the cause and the effect of her death are closely connected to the lives of the father, son, and daughter. On the other hand, when it rains, strange white steam is emitted from the sewers in Rome, and those who breathe in this mysterious gas experience their own horror or fantasy, as they turn into zombie-like creatures. Eventually, in the pouring rain, the Morel family encounters their mother, who they have been missing so much, and they madly confront each other. (MOON Seok)
