The fish cannery worker, Stéphene, is exhausted from her hard life. When she is cornered and has no plan, she meets her wealthy father, who had abandoned her. Unlike her father, Serge, a benign-looking businessman, his new wife Louise, their daughter George, and their rebellious granddaughter, Jeanne, seem to be troublemakers and want to push her out of their luxurious villa. Stéphene desperately tries to fit into this present-day noble class for her own survival, so she pretends to be a fish cannery owner rather than a low-level worker, leading the situation to slip out of her control.
