The COVID-19 pandemic offered white-collar workers everywhere the chance to work from home. For Coba, turning their mother’s homemade sauce into an online business at home has caused long-hidden family conflicts to be on the verge of eruption again. Soon enough, the family’s daily tug-of-war becomes even spicier than chili sauce.
Coba, a 20-year-old music promoter, is working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. While doing so, home may seem like a relaxing environment, but Coba is stuck at home, constantly bickering with his very eccentric parents, and his job has been cut due to the pandemic. One day, when Coba realizes that his friends love the Chilli sauce that his mother makes in a traditional way, he gets the idea to start canning it and selling it online. As people cut back on eating out, his mother’s sauce becomes an explosive hit, and the whole family works to fill orders. The family’s business seems to be thriving until an entrepreneur approaches Coba about partnering with them. Will the Coba family’s business succeed and will his mother’s dream of owning their own house become a reality? The film is a quintessentially Hong Kong raucous comedy, blending laugh-out-loud characters with a timely portrayal of the pandemic to create something as tempting as a chili sauce recipe.
