Chilean filmmaker José Luis Torres Leiva returns to Jeonju five years after his first visit with Death Will Come and Shall Have Your Eyes (2019). His new release, When Clouds Hide the Shadow, follows an actor arriving in Puerto Williams, the southern tip of Chile, to prepare for shooting. María Alché, an Argentinean actor and filmmaker, played the actor in this film. She starred in The Holy Girl (2004, directed by Lucrecia Martel) and rose to fame and directed shorts and features, including A Family Submerged (2018). Due to bad weather, the film crew arrives later than the schedule. María is waiting for the crew and talking to local people she comes across: a botanist dedicated to little things in front of vast nature, a young musician thinking back on a past lover, and a spiritual being who helps relieve physical pain from longing for the nonexistent one. This film is about an intimate time to survive a wound and heal. (Sung MOON)
