Given her prominence as a filmmaker, one might wonder if there is anything more to say about the life and work of Agnès Varda. This film’s director Pierre-Henri Gibert says there is. Through Varda’s films and testimonies of those around her, he offers a vivid and enjoyable glimpse into both her persona and her works. Varda not only knew how to stay a step ahead of the French Nouvelle Vague (New Wave) but also was one of the first women to establish her own production company, enabling her independence from the industry and allowing her to make films in the manner and timing she desired.
