César works as a night guard at a factory. His life follows the same routine—watching trucks enter and leave the factory, hearing dogs bark in the distance, and witnessing night follow day in the same endless cycle. Then one day, he receives a letter, breaking the monotonous rhythm of his simple and confined existence. He travels to the countryside, and during his seemingly endless journey, he learns that nature, once open to everyone, has been transformed into private property and discovers evidence of a forest fire. Though he could reach his destination quickly, César deliberately takes his time, completing his journey on foot as an act of mourning with memories of the past. Martín Sappia’s feature debut Then, the fog captures a forgotten sense of time in cinema by transforming the landscapes into elements of painting. (Sung MOON)
