A crossroads of avenues that is, at the same time, the border between the city of Buenos Aires and its suburbs. The story of a mother who lost her son in the hands of the police confronts the image of normality. Her struggle and her voice draw the imaginary worlds of Jules Verne, which they fantasized about together.

Director Tatiana Mazú González's film, which takes its title from Walter Benjamin's famous quote “Every document of civilization is also a document of barbarism,” created a film that perfectly embodies the German philosopher's thinking. By examining the police killing of Luciano Arruga, the director sheds new light on the case, weaving together the voice of Arruga's mother with images of places the protagonist visited. This area is on the boundary of Buenos Aires, traversed by thousands of people daily. Humans are the ones who create territories and boundaries that breed insecurity, yet it is also humans who sow seeds of trust in these places. The reality of our society serves as a reflection of our civilization's condition. Through the lyrical treatment of a tragic event, this film opens a contemplative space for viewers. (Sung MOON)
