Review

After six years in prison, 46-year-old Iranian human rights activist Maryam is granted a seven-day medical leave. Her husband and children, exiled in Germany after years of hardship, secretly travel to Turkey to see her. Thus, with help from her brother and an underground escape network, Maryam sets off on a perilous two-day journey across the snow-covered mountains to reach Turkey. The joy of their reunion is short-lived, as Maryam must now decide—flee Iran with her family or return to prison and continue the arduous fight for equality and democracy.
This film lays bare the personal sacrifices of individuals demanded by the fight for human rights and honors the unyielding spirit of those who choose to sacrifice their own freedom in pursuit of a better future. (CHUN Jinsu)
