Review

Director Areeb Zuaiter, now residing in the U.S., left Palestine as an infant and grew up in Lebanon. She visited Gaza at age four for the first time and never forgot the sight of the sea there. After her mother passed away, she thought her connection to Palestine had been severed—until she discovered videos of young people parkouring on Gaza's sandy beaches. Flooded with nostalgia, she contacted the parkour team and befriended a member named Ahmed. The team sent footages of them jumping through old malls and bombed-out airports, and Zuaiter came to understand not only the harsh reality they live in but also their battles. The film's breathtaking parkour sequences, set against the backdrop of ruins, strike a unique and moving contrast. (CHUN Jinsu)
