Raised in a troublesome neighbourhood, local rebellious teenager Clotaire falls for his schoolmate Jackie, charmed by her fearless spirit and sharp wit. As powerful first love blossoms between the two, rampant gang violence entices him into a much darker path and ultimately destroys all they have built when he is charged with a crime he didn't commit.

The second feature film from French actor-director Gilles Lellouche was originally titled L'amour ouf—"crazy love." And by the time this nearly three-hour film ends, you'll see just how fitting that title is. Set in a French coastal town in the 1980s, the story follows Clotaire and Jackie—two starkly different teenagers in terms of background, personality, and interests—who are drawn together in an all-consuming love. But Clotaire gets caught up with a criminal gang and is wrongfully convicted, spending twelve years in prison before reuniting with Jackie as an adult. So where will this wild, "crazy" love take them? Though the story may be familiar, Lellouche elevates it with stylish, music video-like shots and captivating performances from both the adult and child actors, ensuring there's never a dull moment.
