Born in 1942, Lee Dooyong made his cinematic debut with The Lost Wedding Veil (1970) and became one of Korea’s greatest directors by subsequently making films such as Manchurian Tiger (1974), Left Foot of Wrath (1974) The Last Witness (1980), The Oldest Son (1984) in various genres including action, drama, and history drama. He also directed films that acquired international fame at prestigious film festivals such as The Hut, Spinning the Tales of Cruelty Towards Women (1983).
