Exile is abandonment, a terrifying solitude. In exile, one´s self is lost, one suffers, andone fades away. But it is also possible to find one´s own. It all starts with exile, and nothing is anything without it.

Rithy PANH

Born in 1964, his family and other residents were expelled from the Cambodian capital in 1975 by the Khmer Rouge. Eventually, he made his way to Paris and graduated from Institute for the Advanced Cinematographic Studies. He won Grand Prize at Scam as Site 2(1989) and won Un Certain Regard as The Missing Picture(2013).
