Review

Gwangju in 1984 is hot with excitement for professional baseball. Eunju wants to go watch her crush Jitae play at the high school baseball competition selection trials, but it coincides with the ancestral ritual ceremonies for her uncle. She begs her parents to let her miss the ceremony just this year, but her family only responds with heavy, loaded emotions. Why do some deaths weigh so heavy on us for so long? This film illustrates the Gwangju Uprising through this girl’s wide-eyed perspective. The directing helps the story unfold with tranquility and balanced perspectives, while the actors give an impactful performance. (KEEM Youngle)
