Review

The latest work by Bill Morrison, a master of film creation using found footage, amounts to a declaration of a formal transformation in his filmography. For this work, he draws on present-day images rather than material from the past. An actual incident involving a police shooting was captured by closed-circuit cameras on the Chicago streets as well as body cameras worn by officers. The aftermath of the incident was likewise reflected in public camera footage. Using these records, the director creates a work midway between a thriller and a political exposé. It is one of the most shocking films of the year, and one that will not easily be forgotten. (Sung MOON)
