Review

Wirginia Szmyt, who turned 85 this year, works under the stage name Vika and is the oldest female DJ in Warsaw. Born in 1938, a year before Nazi Germany invaded Poland, she spent her childhood amid the war, serving as a mother and a grandmother while caring for the underprivileged youth. After retiring, Vika began her DJ career and found herself again. She is a spirited figure who enthuses young people over sixty years younger than her and counters their prejudices about her old age, but at home, she is actually a lonely old woman with tragic memories of World War II, disconnected from her family. Moreover, the pandemic has put a halt to her club performances and her health has deteriorated, but nothing can dampen Vika's passion. This is the story of a woman who wants to live in the present without being tied down by her past. At the same time, it is an inspirational film about the value of one’s life and self-discovery.
