Review

Home Sweet Home seeks to be a family comedy that introduces the somewhat serious subject of a teenage pregnancy right off the bat. Given the backdrop of a big family, one could argue that the theme of pregnancy and childbirth is placed within a similar context. However, this film achieves its self-set goals without veering into awkward social drama or ambiguous melodrama. While not shying away from the issue of Gyeongbin’s pregnancy, the film doesn't dwell on it. Instead, it creates vitality and lively humor based on diverse and distinctive characters. By assigning relatively minor characters, especially Dam’s siblings, with meaningful roles and integrating them appropriately into the story, the film emerges as a healthy, feel-good, and humorous family comedy. The episode where the family attends both Seok’s and Muk’s talent shows simultaneously highlights the teamwork of an ensemble drama, while the scene where Dam meets her sister to discuss problems about Gyeongbin also carries a profound resonance.
