As a narrative form, satire now seems like a genre from a bygone era. How can comedy and mockery be effective when we see politicians, celebrities, and power figures doing things that are ridiculous and nonsensical every day through news and social media? Rumours follows events unfolding at the G7 summit, where the world's seven most influential leaders gather. Without knowing what (or whom) they are confronting, they face a mysterious crisis, which could be the apocalypse. Through this scenario, Rumours reclaims the power of satire while revealing both the character of those who rule our world and why it is right to mock and laugh at them. (Sung MOON)
