#Most Entries Ever
🎬 The 25th JEONJU IFF received the highest number of entries ever for the International Competition!
- 747 films from 81 countries. 143 more entries than last year.
- As a venue for discovering new directors, this year's festival covers various genres!

A whopping 747 films from 81 countries were submitted to the 25th JEONJU IFF's International Competition, which was open for entries from November 8, 2023, to January 3, 2024. This represents an increase of 143 films from the previous year! 📈
The diverse range of entries promises an exciting lineup of films this year. The majority of entries came from Asia, followed by Europe, North and South America, and Africa. 🌏🤭
It is noteworthy that the entries for JEONJU IFF encompass a variety of genres. 🎭 There are 78 more narrative films, 45 more documentaries, 25 more experimental films, and 3 more animations compared to the previous year. We expect a wide range of films at this year's JEONJU IFF! 🎬
We are extremely grateful to the filmmakers from all over the world who submitted their precious works, and JEONJU IFF will hold a fair and fierce judging. In May, only the best films will be presented to our audience! 🙌🎥

🎬 JEONJU IFF X National Assembly Cultural Theater’s February screening: The Hill of Secrets (2022)
- Meets again JEONJU IFF’s Korean films, at the National Assembly Cultural Theater!
✋ If you missed the past screenings of the JEONJU IFF, don’t worry! Starting on February 15 (Thursday), the National Assembly Cultural Theater will be screening some of the best Korean films from JEONJU IFF.
The National Assembly Cultural Theater is a free cultural program and a representative cultural event of the National Assembly Secretariat. It is held regularly to provide the public with more opportunities to enjoy culture and art. 🎭🧐
On December 22 (Friday), 2023, JEONJU IFF signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Assembly Secretariat to establish a cooperation system. As a result, JEONJU IFF’s past award-winning films can now be viewed at the National Assembly Cultural Theater on the third Thursday of every even-numbered month (except April)! 📅The

For February’s screening, the National Assembly Cultural Theater will present The Hill of Secrets (2022). The film is the 23rd JEONJU IFF selection and the winner of the CGV Art House Award Upcoming Project Prize!
It received widespread acclaim for its heartwarming coming-of-age story about Myeong-eun (MOON Seung-a), a fifth-grade girl who opens up about the secrets she's been trying to hide through a writing contest at school. 👏🎉

Before the screening, there will be a movie talk with director Lee Ji-eun and actress Moon Seung-a, followed by an event for audiences who visit the National Assembly Cultural Theater. Please gather for the ticketing-! 🙋

🎬 100 Films 100 Posters exhibition lands in New York!
The JEONJU IFF’s 100 Films 100 Posters exhibition, which debuted in 2015, is now in its 10th year.
100 Films 100 Posters, a large-scale collective design project in which 100 designers create posters for 100 films selected from the JEONJU IFF’s films each year, will finally reach 1000 posters with this 10th exhibition! 👏🥺

Did you know that the 100 Films 100 Posters exhibition has been attracting attention from cinephiles around the world? The JEONJU IFF has been expressing its belief that "the essence of cinema lies in free expression, not technology," through poster exhibitions.
Noting this, MUBI's magazine 『NOTEBOOK』 featured an article on the exhibition, and recently, Posteritati, an authoritative movie poster collection in New York, also held a special exhibition dedicated to posters that Notebook introduced in the magazine including “100 Films 100 Posters”.🖼
CEO of Propaganda, Kim Kwangchul, who organized the 100 Films 100 Posters exhibition, emphasized that “it serves (within the film festival framework) as a bridge, connecting viewers with the films.”
The 10th 100 Films 100 Posters exhibition is coming to Jeonju in May. Enjoy and collect 100 posters of the year at the 25th Jeonju International Film Festival! 🎁🧡

Do you remember from our last newsletter that the JEONJU Cinema Project, which celebrated its 10th anniversary, is touring overseas? After the first screening at the Sala Leopoldo Lugones in Buenos Aires last December, the second screening is now underway at the Museo Reina Sofia in Spain-!
The screenings will range from Jang Woo-jin’s Winter's Night (2018), a visually stunning Korean film, to Lois Patiño's Samsara (2023), which won the Special Jury Prize in the Encounters Section at the Berlinale 2023. 🤘😎 The screenings will be presented in 8 sessions, selecting 16 films from the JEONJU IFF’s production support from 2000 to 2023!
When and where will the next film tour take place? 🤭 The third screening will be held at Arsenal, Berlin starting this Thursday, February 1! The JEONJU Digital Project, a representative program of JEONJU IFF, will be introduced to the world. Stay tuned for the third screening in Germany!

If you’re considering applying to be a volunteer, we’ve been waiting for you. The 25th JEONJU IFF is recruiting volunteers, the flower of the festival🌸, until February 13-!
Volunteers will be assigned to the Business departments: Audience Service, Design, Marketing, Technology, JEONJU Cinetour, JEONJU Project; Contents & Media Department: Korean Film, World Film, Publicity; and Planning & Management Department. There are 12 teams and 25 parts! (I don't know what you like, so I prepared everything...😇)
Q1. I want to try everything... How do I choose just one?!🙄
You can apply for any team and part you want, from priority 1 to 3, so just pick and choose your favorite field. 😎
Q2. But I'm too old...😔
Anyone over the age of 18 who lives in Korea can apply to volunteer! There is also a Senior Volunteers Program available for middle-aged individuals. 🤗
Don’t miss it out, as there are only 13 days left!
