For film students, independent filmmakers, or young filmmakers, enduring the hardships that filmmaking brings or choosing to give up and pursue a new path in life is almost unavoidable. What would it feel like to reunite with old colleagues who went through all the trials and tribulations together? Jung-hyun completes her film after six years and is invited to a film festival. She visits Darin, the lead actor, who is about to leave for Vietnam. Confronting the film they finished is agonizing for both of them. Darin's husband, Seok-jin, playfully reveals the harsh reality of the Korean independent film scene. The fact that half of the audience seeing the film at the film festival for the first time are independent filmmakers creates a sense that our reality is a comedy. Moon Sanghun's portrayal of Seok-jin brings a bitter smile to filmmakers' faces. Darin says that even if our film doesn't change the world—or even our own lives—we should live with the satisfaction of making it. And if that turns into torment, then it's okay to part ways with filmmaking. The colleagues who endured all sorts of hardships watch their film together at its world premiere after six years in the making. (CHOI Changhwan | Director)
