- Festival Co-Director Min Sungwook: “These projects have strong potential to become a film!”
The 26th JEONJU International Film Festival (JEONJU IFF, Festival Co-Directors Min Sungwook and Jung Junho) concluded its three-day industry program, the 17th JEONJU Project, with the JEONJU Project Awards Ceremony held at the GLOUCESTER HOTEL JEONJU.
The JEONJU Project, which operates year-round, is an industry initiative launched by the JEONJU IFF in 2009 to strengthen ties with the film industry and broaden its role beyond film exhibition. Originally known as the JEONJU Project Market, it supported the development and production of innovative Korean and international films for 12 years. In 2021, it was rebranded as the JEONJU Project to further refine its identity and expertise.
For the 17th edition, a total of 336 projects were submitted—an increase of 149 from the previous year, marking a growth of 79.68%. The major events of the 17th JEONJU Project took place over three days, from May 4 (Sun) to May 6 (Tue), featuring 24 selected projects.
The final results were announced on the last day of the program, May 6 (Tue), at the Awards Ceremony. Festival Co-Director Min Sungwook remarked, “Every project selected for the JEONJU Project displays a unique perspective, flexible imagination, and strong potential to become a film.” Co-Director Jung Junho also congratulated the participants, adding, “I hope the JEONJU Project continues to be a cornerstone for creators’ passions and dreams.”
JEONJU Project Executive Producer Park Tae-joon stated, “Through the JEONJU Cinema Project, a total of 38 films—14 international and 24 Korean—have been produced. This year, Horoomon by Lee Ilha was unveiled. Additionally, for this year’s JEONJU Lab, a total of 214 projects were submitted: 97 to the JEONJU Cinema Project: Next Edition and 25 to the Work-in-Progress section—an 80% increase compared to last year.”
Starting on April 30 (Wed), with the conclusion of its 17th industry journey, the 26th JEONJU IFF will continue to engage with audiences across Jeonju until its closing day on May 9 (Fri).
