Even after a century, Midnight Cowboy (1969) remains one of the most creative and groundbreaking films of all time. With captivating acting from Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman, resolute directing from John Schlesinger, and great music from John Barry, this film became the only X-rated film to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards in 1969. However, this documentary doesn’t end with simply showing the creative process behind Midnight Cowboy. Rather, this film deals with the incredibly talented and passionate people who gave their all to create Midnight Cowboy and goes through much of modern American history such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the Vietnam War, and the Civil Rights Movement, all of which became the backdrop for the birth of New American Cinema. The film is also an analysis and insight into the miracle that one era was responsible in creating a film, which in turn was responsible for a whole era. (CHUN Jinsu)
