Overview

Produced during the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s handover from Great Britain to Mainland China in the wake of cataclysmic regional changes, Simon Liu’s dizzying, claustrophobic Let’s Talk captures the anxiety of an uncertain future.

Review

This film was created on the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China. Director Simon Liu has made a number of experimental films about memories associated with Hong Kong. This time, his work is not a symphony for a city but a film that uses a 16mm camera to vividly present a visual and political essay on a city that remains unconscious of change, along with the spaces in it where traces of the past survive.
