Review

In 1996, for Mahtab, a divorcee living in Tehran, her 10-year-old son Erfan is her everything. Her ex-husband Morteza is in prison for a crime, and her son Erfan's only interest is watching movies. Mahtab worries about her son’s isolation from sports and other active hobbies in his father’s absence so she sends him to a karate academy. But Erfan runs away, unable to withstand the strict training of coach Hassan. As Erfan's new semester begins, a new literature teacher comes to his school—it happens to be Hassan, the karate coach, who ends up falling in love with his mother Mahtab, and marries her. On top of that, a mysterious man watches Erfan's house, driving the story out of control. Full of B film sentiments, this film entertains its audience by exquisitely combining the influence of Indian Bollywood films with sloppy action scenes. (CHUN Jinsu)
